E-Mail newsletter – MiSCA Race Info – August 6th, 2020

2020 MISCA RACING UPDATE

MISCA Race Season Starts later this month.  To be sure you are fully in the loop with the logistics, this is a special e-newsletter to help you prepare.

The 2020 Race Roster is available on our website, updated as we receive confirmation of your signups!

Registration Details

Registration will be different for 2020.  Please read the notes below to ensure you are informed.

  • August 7th (FRIDAY) is the deadline to sign up for a custom nameplate (pictured above).  To register for racing, please use MiSCA’s registration website and indicate that you are a West Michigan Coyote.
  • First-year racers, use the coupon code FIRSTYR to wave MiSCA’s fee.
  • Do not plan on day-of registration this season. Please plan to register ahead of time, online. COVID-19 precautions include minimizing personal contact at races. MiSCA may close registration up to a week early to ensure crowds are kept to a minimum. There is a discount for registering ahead of time on the MISCA website.
  • MiSCA may limit the number of riders at races to comply with state regulations around gatherings during the pandemic.  For this reason, please plan to register ahead of time for those races you’ll attend.
  • MISCA also has a scholarship program.  If the cost of racing (which admittedly adds up quickly) makes attending the races difficult for your family, please explore this option.
  • If you register for MiSCA, please inform the coaches by forwarding your MiSCA confirmation email to wmcoyotesmtb@gmail.com

COVID-19 and its impact on racing

For those of you who race outside the MiSCA season, you’re acutely aware that almost every race in Michigan has been canceled this summer.  Many fall races are also already canceled as well.  MiSCA has plans to run its race series with substantial safety regulations in place.  While we cannot know for sure what will happen, as of today, our Coyotes are planning to move forward as a team and defend our High School Composite and Middle School state championships!  More details about MiSCA’s approach to COVID and race day safety plans can be found in their July 20th newsletter.

Changes thus far:

  • Race #1 @ Hickory Glen will be a Time Trial format race
  • Race #2 @ Addison Oaks will be a Time Trial format race
  • Race #3 has been moved to Cannonsburg State Game Area (away from Fort Custer)

Why Race?

Our West Michigan Coyotes 2020 MISCA Roster is listed on our racing page (updated as of August 6th), but we are really hoping to grow that in the next few days and weeks.  Racing is where our club becomes a team.  Racers bond as a team, forge friendships and experience the joys and healthy challenge of competition at these unique youth-only events. If you’re new to racing, it’s a great way to learn about how fun races can be.  If you’re a veteran racer, these are certain to be the most well-attended races for juniors.
