Welcome to the West Michigan Coyotes. We are a Junior MTB racing team of student-athletes Grades K-12 from across West Michigan. In 2017 we started with 17 riders. These days, we have over 100 registered riders! The growth has been staggering and exciting.

Our riders hail from school districts across West Michigan from Allendale to Zeeland, Grand Rapids to Grand Haven, and nearly everywhere in between. Some team members come from as far away as South Bend or Sturgis, Traverse City or Three Rivers, and we think that’s pretty cool too!

We abide by three principles:

  1. Mountain biking is a great sport for everyone. Starting while you’re young sets you up for a lifetime of fun in the woods.
  2. Racing is fun, and racing together is even more fun. Our team, while competitive and excited to win state championships (2019, 20, 21, & 22!), really revolves around having a good time on your bike.
  3. Sportsmanship is contagious.

Our 100% volunteer coaching staff (at all levels) are certified in CPR, First Aid, and MiSCA MTB Coaching. We also all undergo a criminal background check and follow MiSCA’s coaching guidance to ensure your kids enjoy MTB safely.

STATE CHAMPIONS, BABY! That’s right, not just champions – double champions! Your Coyotes claimed the throne for both Elementary AND Middle School! Cue the most dramatic, over-the-top “Danger Zone” intro, because what went down was pure Top Gun-style domination. These kids didn’t just show up to race; they showed up to fly, pulling Maverick-worthy moves and turning the trails into a Coyote runway of absolute glory. “I feel the need—the snack-fueled need for SPEED!” Strap in, throw on those aviators, and get ready because this 2024 State Championship recap at Heritage Park is Coyote-style and completely unhinged. Stony Creek Race Recap

If you missed this weekend at Stony Creek, let me just say…you missed everything! The Coyotes hit a course that was basically an MTB amusement park on steroids—like, if Disneyland and a rollercoaster had a wild love child that could shred! We’re talking trails so flowy they could make a river jealous, rocks galore that had you questioning whether you were biking or auditioning for Survivor: Boulder Edition, and root drops that made our suspensions beg for a vacation in the Bahamas. Stony Creek threw down the gauntlet, and the Coyotes grabbed it like, “Hold my donut, we got this!”…
