Welcome to the West Michigan Coyotes. We are a Junior MTB racing team of student-athletes Grades K-12 from across West Michigan. In 2017 we started with 17 riders. These days, we have over 140 registered riders! The growth has been staggering and exciting.
Our riders hail from school districts across West Michigan from Allendale to Zeeland, Grand Rapids to Grand Haven, and nearly everywhere in between. Some team members come from as far away as South Bend or Sturgis, Traverse City or Three Rivers, and we think that’s pretty cool too!
We abide by three principles:
- Mountain biking is a great sport for everyone. Starting while you’re young sets you up for a lifetime of fun in the woods.
- Racing is fun, and racing together is even more fun. Our team, while competitive and excited to win state championships (2019, 20, 21, 22 & 24!), really revolves around having a good time on your bike.
- Sportsmanship is contagious.
Our 100% volunteer coaching staff (at all levels) are certified in CPR, First Aid, and MiSCA MTB Coaching. We also all undergo a criminal background check and follow MiSCA’s coaching guidance to ensure your kids enjoy MTB safely.

Here’s who showed up and showed out: Dirty 30: Reese Drajka – 4thAnother race, another top finish. We’re convinced Reese is powered by rocket fuel and determination. She quietly devours…
Barry Roubaix 2025 Recap
Barry Roubaix Recap: Gravel, Grit, and Snack-Fueled Chaos Two weeks later and we’re still finding dust in our socks. Barry Roubaix was wild…in the best way. It’s the biggest single-day gravel race in the WORLD, and this year the Coyotes rolled in with snacks packed, legs prepped and absolutely zero chill. It started cold. Like, “why are we doing this again?” cold. But then the sun came out, layers flew off and our crew sent it into spring race mode like a pack of hungry, slightly over-caffeinated squirrels. 36 Mile Crew: Boys 11-18 Girls 11-18 18 Mile Squad: Boys 14-18…
