The Coyotes are growing like crazy, and guess what? We can’t keep the momentum going without YOU! No coaches = no Coyotes. It’s that simple. Whether you’re a seasoned rider or you’ve only ever ridden a bike to chase after your kids, we need you NOW to keep this season rolling (and the next)! Seriously, without enough coaches, we’re toast and not the good kind with butter.
We’re available all weekend to chat through any questions (or bribe you with snacks). But here’s the deal: we need commitments before the end-of-season party so we can hit the ground sprinting for 2025. Let’s not leave this to the last minute like homework, get in the game and let’s keep the Coyotes charging ahead!
Questions? Find us this weekend at Stony Creek… We’ll be there, and yes, we’ll have snacks as bribes. 😏
Coaching Levels:
Level 1 – Pack Sweeper
Join us as a Pack Sweeper during practices and help support our athletes. You can attend as many practices as you’d like and be right in the middle of the action!
- MiSCA Requirement: To be part of the action and ride during practices, all coaches must complete a background check and register with MiSCA as a Level 1 Coach. Trust us—you don’t want to miss out on this! The energy, camaraderie, and excitement at practices are something you’ll only experience as an official part of the team.
- Perks: The satisfaction of helping young riders succeed while being immersed in the full Coyotes experience.
Level 2 – Trail Scout
As a Trail Scout, you’ll have the chance to step in as a backup or secondary coach and assist when needed, ensuring the practices run smoothly and the riders have the support they need.
- MiSCA Requirements: In addition to Level 1 requirements, Trail Scouts are encouraged to attend skills clinics to stay sharp.
- Perks: You’ll not only be more involved but also get to sport a West Michigan Coyotes T-shirt, showing off your dedication and team spirit.
Level 3 – Pack Leader
As a Pack Leader, you’ll lead your own practice pack, making an even greater impact on the development of our riders. You’ll be at the forefront, setting the tone and guiding your group through their practices.
- MiSCA Requirements: Pack Leaders are encouraged to attend intermediate or advanced skills clinics to further enhance their leadership on the trail.
- Perks: You’ll receive a West Michigan Coyotes Coaches Jersey to proudly represent your leadership role!
Required Certification:
To ensure all coaches are fully equipped and compliant with MiSCA’s rules, here’s a breakdown of the certification requirements per level:
Level 1 – Pack Sweeper (Quick and All Online):
- Registration with MiSCA ($30 annual fee, includes background check)
- Concussion training (online)
- Coaching on the Trail (online training)
Typically all completed in less than an hour!
Level 2 – Trail Scout & Level 3 – Pack Leader (Additional Requirements):
- First Aid and CPR certification (not required for Level 1- the Coyotes team covers this cost!)
- Intermediate or advanced mountain biking skills courses (encouraged for Level 3)
We have 5 certified skills coaches on staff who can help teach these skills and hold coaching clinics. These are a fantastic way to learn how we coach and refresh your own skills, no matter how long you’ve been riding!
