Buckle up, folks, because Race #2 was hotter than Coach Ryan’s pig intestines and sweeter than Coach Tobi’s Oreo crumble waffles (IYKYK). The Coyotes didn’t just hold on to that top series spot…we devoured it, washed it down with waffles, and probably left a trail of crumbs on the course. Between blazing fast rides, hilarious pre-race interviews (because apparently “looking stylish” is the key to riding fast), and our littlest ripper Alexander crushing the balance bike course, this weekend was a wild, waffle-fueled adventure!
Are you excited?! Check out this video:
Let’s start with Saturday, where the Advanced Elementary boys were absolutely on fire! James Broughton took 1st place like he was running late for waffles (spoiler alert: he probably was), while Easton Johnson zoomed into 3rd with laser focus that could cut through steel. And then there’s Raylan Hansma, who breezed into 5th with a grin so big it must’ve made him more aerodynamic which I’m convinced that’s scientifically proven, probably.
Not to be outdone, the Advanced Elementary girls rolled in hot! Hadley Ruch casually snagged 3rd place, making the trails look like a breezy Sunday ride. If she were any more relaxed, she’d have been sipping a latte mid-race.
Over in the 5th grade girls, Alida Ward gave it her all, snagging a solid 12th place. And then we had the 4th grade boys, where Ryder Pankey turned into a human rocket and blasted his way to 1st place. It honestly looked like the trail was scared of him, I tried to get a video but its just a blur of speed and determination!
Meanwhile, the 4th grade girls were having the time of their lives, probably planning their next waffle topping combos mid-race. Lola Clemo zoomed into 8th, Amelia Cox claimed 13th, and Fiona O’Byrne rolled in at 16th, with enough smiles and team spirit to make it look effortless.
In the 2nd-3rd grade boys, Sawyer Weaver shot into 3rd place like he had jet fuel in his water bottle, while Caleb Grenier kept the pedal to the metal and finished 41st with sheer determination. As for the 2nd-3rd grade girls, Aspen Trierweiler powered into 3rd place, while Lucy Clemo rolled in at 14th. Gracelyn Host and Rainey Broughton rounded out the crew in style (because looking good is part of the strategy, right?).
Now, let’s talk about the PreK-1st grade race which is honestly just pure joy on wheels! Titus Broughton took 3rd, Wyatt Johnson zoomed into 8th, and our littlest ripper, Alexander, absolutely shredded the balance bike course. He was so fast we’re not sure his feet even touched the ground. Keep an eye on this one, he is probably going to be super fast and a future pro in the making!
Now for the real highlight of the day—the waffles. Breakfast for dinner? Yes, please! Coach Tobi’s Oreo crumble waffles were legendary and Coach Ryan’s pig intestines? Well, let’s just say it takes a brave soul, but for those who dared, it was an experience. The food game was strong this weekend, and we’re already drooling thinking about what the food committee has planned for next weekend.
Sunday rolled around, and with it came the Varsity boys, who were tearing up the course like they were born for this. Ray Muehlenz flew into 6th place, while Drake Marine wasn’t far behind in 12th. These guys were zipping through those trails like they had jet engines strapped to their bikes.
Over in JV boys territory, Gavin Peters fought his way into 13th for the 11th-12th graders, while Bridger Hoogeveen came in 31st…on a borrowed bike. Yep, Bridger broke his bike again (seriously, we’re thinking of starting a Bridger Backup Bike Fund), but he grabbed a loaner and raced like an absolute champ. In the 9th-10th grade JV boys, Easton Roberts grabbed 7th with Camden DeJong right behind him in 11th. These boys were a force to be reckoned with.
And let me tell you, the Coyotes JV girls were on fire! Sadie James powered her way into 2nd place like a true trailblazer, while Ocean Trierweiler came in strong at 6th, proving that the Coyotes girls are every bit as fierce as the boys.
The Advanced Middle School boys took no prisoners either. Tristan Hubbard grabbed a solid 3rd place, while Luke Dewall and Cruz Woodbury tore up the course, taking 7th and 8th. Will Hughes and Owen Rookus weren’t far behind, rolling into 14th and 15th, probably already planning their next waffle topping strategy.
Meanwhile, the Advanced Middle School girls were unstoppable! Reese Drajka claimed the top step with 1st place, while Sammy Weaver hammered her way into 3rd. Laila Hubbard, Landree Darnell, and Kaitlyn Tungl kept the momentum going, grabbing 6th, 7th, and 10th respectively. These girls brought the heat and made sure everyone knew the Coyotes weren’t playing around.
Our Novice riders were having an absolute blast too! Kaden Spitters took home 1st place in the 10th-12th grade boys’ race, while Hudson Roberts rolled in strong for 5th. In the 8th grade boys, Tyler Veley gave it his all on a pass near the finish (check IG for this!) finishing 18th, while the 7th grade boys saw Sawyer Willink crush it with a 4th place finish, followed by Calvin Host and Jakob Boer in 7th and 8th. For the 6th grade boys, Max Clemo grabbed 4th, while Gunnar Larson, Ryland Modzeleski, Finn O’Byrne, and Spencer Bundy fought through and finished 14th, 17th, 21st, and 30th, respectively.
The Novice girls weren’t about to be outdone—Harper Roberts powered into 6th, while Ellie Pankey gave it her all to finish 14th, showing the Coyotes never back down, no matter what the course throws their way.
And the fun didn’t stop there! We had post-race interviews where the riders dished out their real race strategies. While some were all about speed, the secret weapon? “Looking stylish” ~ Laila Hubbard. Yep, when you look good, you ride good, it’s science.
Between shredding the trails, cracking up during the interviews, and fueling up at the epic waffle bar, the Coyotes were having more fun than anyone else out there. We’re not just the best team, we’re the most fun.
Yip, yip.
