Last weekend was a bi-week for the MiSCA race series and a few of our Coyotes headed to Caledonia for the Kisscross CX event. The Kisscross Cyclo-cross race brought riders of all ages together for a day of intense competition, camaraderie, and a Coyote team youth podium sweep!
Cyclo-cross, often referred to as CX, is a unique and very different form of bike racing. It combines elements of gravel-ish cycling, mountain biking, and even a bit of cross-country running. The races take place on a mix of terrains, including pavement, grass, mud, sand, and challenging obstacles that require riders to dismount and carry their bikes.
Sunday’s Kisscross Cyclo-cross race in Caledonia was no exception to the excitement that CX brings. Participants of all ages and skill levels took on the demanding course, which featured tight corners, steep climbs, and tricky descents. The weather was amazing on race day and the team had a blast on (and off) the race course.
The youth podium was dominated by the Coyotes. All of our riders pushed themselves for 4-6 laps on course and working on those handling skills for next weekend.
The entire team crushed it on the course and had smiles the entire way.

Coach Andy and Coach Justinian were out on the course yesterday as well.
The Kisscross CX race served as a reminder of the enduring appeal of cyclo-cross and the close-knit cycling community in Michigan. As we move forward, it’s events like these that continue to inspire the next generation of cyclists. Who knows what surprises and impressive performances await us in the future? CX races are a ton of fun!
