Races in Michigan

There are two race calendars that seek to be comprehensive. Mountain Bike Michigan has a list of events and so does Michigan-Cycling (which has other disciplines as well).

Here’s our list of favorite races in the state:

Races outside of Michigan

Some Coyotes like to travel outside the state. Varsity riders seeking to compete at the USA Cycling National Championships should consider testing the waters in Wisconsin or Indiana ahead of time (though this isn’t a requirement).

  • USA Cycling MTB National Championships – Our team attended this event for the first time in 2021. It was held in Winter Park, CO and was humbling, eye-opening, exciting, and rewarding. There are races for all ages, as well as Cat 1 (elite) races and the pro national championships.
  • Wisconsin Off-Road Series – A series of races across Wisconsin with deeper fields and stronger competition than we find in Michigan (non-MiSCA) races. These are not youth-focused races like MiSCA and are more analagous to the Michigan CPS races. That said, WORS puts on a very family-friendly event, and the junior fields are quick. USA Cycling race license required (but free to MiSCA Juniors). Coyotes traveled to these races for the first time in 2021 and will return in 2022 most likely.
  • Indiana Series (DINO) – A CPS-like series of races. The race at Brown County is especially fun as this trail system is a destination trail for many riders across the midwest.
